The original failing brick cladding on this downtown Toronto apartment high-rise was removed and replaced with a new, insulated metal cladding system, providing enhanced thermal performance for the exterior walls. The design eliminated the safety concern with respect to the falling brick and improved the thermal efficiency of the building. Repairs to the block back-up wall and application of an air barrier membrane formed part of the overall wall system. Brown and Beattie Ltd. provided engineering services related to design, specifications, tendering, field review and contract administration.
